Kona International Airport at Keahole

The Kona International Airport at Keahole (KOA) Master Plan and Part 150 Noise Compatibility Study Team organization allows each member to focus on their particular area of expertise while interacting and coordinating with each other and the state airport division (DOT-A) to move the project ahead rapidly.
Kober Hannsen Mitchell Architects (KHMA) has assembled an exceptionally qualified consulting Team to assist the DOT-A with the preparation of a master plan and noise compatibility study for KOA. Each member of the Team has worked together on projects of similar scope and size in the past and each has recent experience in providing successful projects for the DOT-A.

Kober Hanssen Mitchell Architects, Prime Consultant, Master Plan and Land Use Planning and Development Consultant
The KHMA team is a Hawaii-led team with strong participation from both local and Mainland firms with specific skills needed to create a successful Master Plan and Part 150 Noise Compatibility Study for the KOA. KHMA has led planning studies of comparable size, and brings to this project not only in depth knowledge of the technical issues related to built environment, but experience in land use planning and development in the State of Hawaii, particularly on the Big Island.

NBBJ, Airport Terminal Area Planning Consultant
NBBJ is a full service architectural firm, which specializes in the comprehensive planning and design of airports and transportation passenger facilities. These projects support diverse clients worldwide, including airport authorities, port authorities, airlines, airport tenants, and government agencies. NBBJ has developed successful projects for the DOT-A including Hana, Kona, Honolulu, Kahului, Lihue and blast analysis at all five of the larger airports.

Coffman Associates, Airport Master Plan/Part 150 Noise Compatibility Program Consultant
Founded in 1979, Coffman Associates was established as a professional airport consulting firm specializing in airport planning services. During the past 25 years, Coffman Associates has been involved in over 600 airport planning assignments, including 350 airport master plans, over 60 airport noise compatibility studies, and over 200 airport environmental studies. This experience has allowed its staff to successfully address many of the same issues currently facing Kona International Airport.

Faith Group, Airport Security, Operations/IT Planning Consultant
Faith Group, LLC will provide Information Technology, Security and Operational Planning services as part of the KOA Master Plan. Planning for technology needs and system requirements must support the ever-changing airport business, operations, airline environment and security regulations. As those needs change, systems must be planned to support them and be flexible enough to adapt to the new environment.

Bowers + Kubota Consulting, Civil Engineering, Traffic and Constructability Analysis Consultant
KFC Airport, Inc. is a full-service engineering and architecture consulting firm with extensive aviation consulting experience. The firm is the leader among Hawaii-based firms in providing project and construction management services to the Airports Division. It has provided project and construction management services for over 50 airport projects throughout the Hawaiian Islands with a constructed value of over $400. The firm has completed planning or engineering work on 14 airports with the Hawaii State Airport System.

Becker Communications, Inc. (BCI) is a full service public relations firm founded in 1986. BCI represents a wide variety of clients and provides them with professional services based on the premise that effective public relations entail more than simply managing media coverage and exposure. In order for a client’s message to stand strong, public relations must use a multi-tiered, carefully tailored approach to reach the client’s target audiences, and must provide a means for the client to listen, hear and respond to those audiences. In addition to the KOA Master Plan and 14 CFR Part 150 Update, BCI is also providing public relations support to the Honolulu International Airport Modernization Program.
